Background And Career Of Fernando Villalona

Fernando Villalona was born Ramon Fernando Villalona Evora on 7th May 1955 to his parents, Virginia Arcadia Evora de Villalona and Angle Ramon Villalona in Loma de Cabrera, Dominican Republic. His 2 brothers, Aramis Villalona and Angelito Villalona are also singers. He is currently 68 years old.

He developed an interest in singing from quite a young age. It seems he was born with the talent to sing.

He Joined Wilfrido Vargas Group In 1971

The Dominican merengue singer started testing the waters of fame before he was 20. This happened after he partook in a local TV talent show El Festival de la Voz.” in 1971. He finished in 3rd place and was adjudged one of the best in the talent show. After the show, providence brought him into contact with the legendary Dominican merengue singer, Wilfrido Vargas who asked him to join his band, Los Hijos del Rey.

He spent some time with the group before leaving. It was reported that he left the group to assemble his own orchestra. However, credible sources alleged he left  Vargas’ group when his popularity supersede that of the group.

Villalona took a temporary hiatus from his career due to drugs and the heartbreak he suffered from a relationship. But even at that, he was still singing and recording. In fact, it was during this time that he was said to have recorded some of his greatest hits.

He took over from where he stopped and made it to the music charts in 1993 following the cover of Manuel Serrat’s Penelope which was part of his 1993 album El Nino Mimado.

Over time, he has collaborated with several artists including Victoria Daly, Shakira, Ricky Martin, Olga Tanon, and Enrique Iglesias.

In 2012, he recorded El Color de tu Mirada with Daly. The following year, the music video earned the “Best Music Video” nomination at the 2013 edition of the Soberano Awards. A year prior he joined the likes of Spanish-speaking artists like Shakira, Ricky Martin, and Enrique Iglesias to participate in the We Are The World Spanish version.

The 68 Year-Old Dominican Singer Is Married To Fatima Vicioso And They Have 5 Children

Villalona is currently married to Fatima Vicioso. The pair got married on 11th  November 2014 in the Dominican Republic. The wedding was held in his residence in Loma de Cabrera and attended by friends, family, and several guests including Anthony Rios, Sergio Vargas, and Pedro Guerrero.

According to the reports, the pair have been together for several years before deciding to exchange marital vows. Vicioso couldn’t hide her happiness for getting to walk down the aisle with the love of her life. She said she waited so long for the moment and thanked the Lord for giving her the opportunity to witness it.

The singer, on the other hand, said he wants her to be his best friend and partner for life. He further mentioned that since he met her, he knew she is the love of his life and that together, they would overcome any challenge.

After spending a couple of days at their residence in Loma de Cabrera, the couple traveled to the United States for their Honeymoon.

Besides her, he was initially married to a  woman of Puerto Rican origin named Evelyn Jorge who gave birth to Paloma.
