Lawrence Taylors Son Gets 30 Years for Rape: Lawrence Julius Taylor Jr. Eligible for Parole After

Publish date: 2024-08-14

The son of former NFL star Lawrence Taylor has plead guilty and has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to child molestation and rape on Monday, May 4. Lawrence Julius Taylor Jr., 33, responded to the charges with a guilty plea on May 4, the day that his trial was set to begin. Lawrence Taylor’s son’s sentence will consist of 10 years behind bars, and 20 years on probation, DA Vic Renyolds’ office says.

ADA Hannah Palmquist said in a statement, “Resolving this case with a guilty plea provides the victims with finality and prevents them from having to relive their experiences on the witness stand. Justice was done in this case, not only because the defendant will serve 10 years in prison, but because the victims will not have to be put through the emotional toll of a trial.”

Taylor Jr. was arrested back in July 2013 after he was accused of raping two girls, one who was under the age of 16. Powder Springs police arrested Taylor Jr. after one of the girls came clean and reported the assault to the police. After she revealed what happened, a second girl witnessed the assault, and told the police that she also had consensual sex with Taylor Jr. “approximately 5 to 6 times” in 2012, when she was under the age of 16.

TMZ Sports was able to speak with the father of one of the victims and he said that he is happy Taylor Jr. will be off the streets, but hoped that he would face more than 10 years in prison for his crimes. When TMZ reached out to the Taylor family they received no response. Shocking.

Here’s another interesting piece of information; Taylor Jr’s father, Lawrence Taylor, is also a registered sex offender who plead guilty to a sexual misconduct as well as patronizing a prostitute in 2011. Taylor Jr’s father’s incident also involved an underage girl. We guess what they say is true; the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Do you feel that Lawrence Taylor Jr. should have faced more than 10 years in prison, or do you believe the punishment fits the crime? Let us know in the comments below.
