LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: The aunt of two toddlers who were killed in a tragic car crash, is reported to have split a whole bottle of tequila with friends before causing the single-car collision on Sunday, December 11. Kaleah Sharelle Manning, 23, was operating a silver 2004 Honda Odyssey van on Scott Robinson Boulevard road at around 9.15 pm when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a palm tree head-on.

The impact of the crash thrashed the car and killed two toddlers identified as Taylor Wilmer, 3, and Rose Wilmer, 2. While Rose was pronounced dead at the scene, Taylor was rushed to the University Medical Centre, where she succumbed to her injuries on December 12. The girls' 25-year-old mother Raenysa Clydette-Glenn Washington was sitting in the front passenger seat when the crash occurred.

A report by Fox5 Vegas stated that the girls and the mother were at a party before the crash. Their aunt, a delivery driver, picked them up and drove them to her friend's place in her van. At the friends' place, they took the car seats out of the vehicle as they belonged to the friend. Washington said they don’t have seats of their own as she sold them earlier this week. The second row of seats in the van had been removed and the girls were put in the third row, belted in using seat belts from the second row.

Police also received confessions from both mother and aunt that they consumed alcohol before the crash. The mother stated that her sister and their friend had finished a whole bottle of tequila. The investigative officers reported that upon their arrival at the scene, they found a female adult sitting on the driver's seat, attempting to shake the passenger awake. They said the female driver smelled like alcohol, had slurred her speech and her eyes were bloodshot. Her blood alcohol was reported to be 0.19, which is more than twice the legal limit.

Manning said to the officer, “I thought I was fine,” and added that she usually doesn’t drive drunk. While Washington is facing charges of child endangerment, Manning is charged with multiple criminal offenses including DUI and child endangerment. The pair are booked into CCDC and are scheduled to appear in court Tuesday. The tragic deaths of the two toddlers have left their families devastated. The girl's father, Tavon Wilmer, 22, said the car crash was "something that should never have happened." He added, "My girls were beautiful, smart girls."
